Honestly, the stupidity of some people is just so overwhelming. Like this mother. How in the hell does she not notice that her own son is turning into a fat blob? She was arrested and charged with unlawful neglect of her 14-year old son after he managed to reach the staggering weight of 555 pounds. Once again, he weighs 555 pounds! And he’s only 14-years old! What the fuck?!?

The mother’s excuse for her son’s morbid obesity is that she worked a lot of second or third shifts and wasn’t home a lot. Sorry, not an excuse. There’s no reason in hell why she couldn’t have prepared a meal before she went to work for her son to heat up later. She also says that she was monitoring her son’s diet but there were times when she had to buy fast food. Ok, two things here. First, she was monitoring her son’s diet? Seriously? Is she blind? Wow! Second, she didn’t have to buy fast food. Nobody has to buy fast food. It’s a conscious decision one makes to buy fast food. Enough with the excuses. Take some responsibility for christ’s sake.

Of course, the son is not without blame either. He was the one putting this shit into his mouth. There comes a point when you’re getting so damn fat that you have to say, “enough is enough.”

Now the son is in the custody of the Department of Social Services. Of course, the mother thinks he should still be with her. She admits her son needs treatment but says she doesn’t have the money for it. Whatever. A good treatment for obesity is exercise and diet. Walking is free…doesn’t cost a thing. And healthy food actually costs less than that fast food shit she’s been feeding him. Maybe while her son’s in the custody of the state she should be forced to take parenting classes because she obviously needs the help.

When I first saw the title of the article in the New York Times, “It’s Now Legal to Catch a Raindrop in Colorado”, I thought that perhaps this was some sort of joke. I mean, seriously, why the hell wouldn’t it be legal to catch a raindrop? Oh, it was a real article alright. Apparently there are a few fucked up states where it’s illegal to collect rainwater – even on your own property! Seriously, WTF?!? Thankfully Colorado has gotten its head out of its ass and is now allowing its residents to legally collect rainwater to reuse it. I just can’t for the life of me figure out how in the hell it was illegal to begin with.

Rave: Blood Donor Superstar

Posted: June 29, 2009 in Uncategorized

With all the crap happening in this world it’s nice to read about something good and worthwhile for a change. This 90-year old woman in California donated her 200th pint of blood last week. That’s more than 25 gallons of blood!

Margaret Delfino has been giving blood regularly since 1954 with a 5 year hiatus starting in 2001 when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. When her doctors declared her to be cancer free she started donating blood again. Every 8 weeks she meets one of her daughters at the blood bank and they donate blood together. Margaret still lives in her own home and enjoys gardening, planting flowers, and spending time with her family. What an amazing woman!

Mother of the Year

Posted: June 28, 2009 in Uncategorized

A 22-year old woman in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, apparently not realizing she was pregnant, gave birth to a baby boy in a Wal-Mart restroom. And then, like all good mothers do, she left the baby in the toilet and ran out. Somehow she was found not guilty of child abandonment.

This is just flabbergasting. How in the fuck is this not child abandonment? She gave birth to a baby and then left him to die in a toilet. I don’t give a rat’s ass that she claims that the baby didn’t look like he was alive. As the mother, or as a human being for christ’s sake, she should have taken responsibility for that poor child and gotten some help. I just can’t believe this. What a poor excuse for a human being.

I realize, as difficult as it sometimes is to believe, that some people are pregnant and never know it until they deliver the baby. So I understand that this woman was shocked to all hell when she went to use the restroom and ended up delivering a baby (especially since, according to her, she had taken three pregnancy tests which all came back negative). However, there is just no excuse for her actions. All she had to do is call for help. It’s not difficult. Thankfully (and no thanks to her) the baby survived and is being cared for by a family. Unfathomable to me is how this idiot is allowed to have regular contact with the baby. She abandons him, leaving him for dead, and now she’s allowed to have contact with him? How the fuck does that happen?

Last month the losers in the Massachusetts Senate voted to increase the state sales tax from 5% to 6.25% following the lead of the House. Enough idiots voted for this bullshit making it veto-proof. They somehow think that raising the sales tax will generate $633 million for the next fiscal year. What the delusional morons fail to take into account is the probability that there will be far fewer sales in this state once this crap goes into effect. Those people close to the New Hampshire and Connecticut borders will more than likely do the majority of their shopping in those states (especially New Hampshire which has no sales tax). Right now a lot of people cross the border to make purchases in NH, but I think more people will follow suit now. And as of today, CT has a higher sales tax than MA so right now people from CT actually come up here to shop. That won’t be the case when the sales tax here is raised. And let’s not forget the internet. Most places on the internet don’t charge sales tax. So to recap, people living in MA will do as much shopping in NH, CT and online as possible. And people living in the border states will no longer be coming to MA to make their purchases. Way to hurt the businesses in this crappy state, idiots.

The Senators also voted to increase some existing taxes and establish new ones. First, they want to start taxing beer and alcohol. Second, they want communities to have the choice to raise the local tax on motel rooms from 4% to 6% (that’s on top of the 5.7% state tax which is different from the motel tax). Third, they want cities and towns to have the option of charging a 2% municipal tax on meals at restaurants (on top of the state tax of 5%). Last, and this one is my favorite, the morons want to allow cities and towns to be able to charge property tax on utility poles and overhead wires that are on public streets and public property that are owned by the telecommunications companies. Good move geniuses! Guess who’s really gonna end up paying for that. Yeah, that’s right, those of us already being fucked over with higher taxes. The telecommunications companies are just going to pass those taxes onto their customers.

With the cost of living so high in MA already, not to mention the really high cost of doing business in this state, you’d think that in these woeful economic times our elected leaders would try to lure more businesses into the state and try to stop so many people from moving out of state. They should be trying to stimulate the economy, not smother it. When we’re in the worst recession we’ve been in in 30 years you don’t raises taxes on everything you can possibly think of. That’s just ludicrous! What’s next, taxing us on every breath we take? I can’t wait until Election Day when I can vote against the idiots that voted for this bullshit.

This just really pisses me off. Back in January US Airways Flight 1459 made an emergency landing in the Hudson River. Some birds had flown into the engines disabling the engines. The pilot did a fantastic job of landing in the Hudson River and averting disaster. He was lauded as a hero by many. So now comes this wench who’s after the airline to give her money – more than the airline has already dished out. Now, this accident wasn’t the pilot’s fault and it wasn’t the airline’s fault. Yet the airline is still doing what they think is right and compensating people for what happened. Personally I think these people should just count their lucky stars and be thankful that they’re still alive. But I digress.

After the emergency landing US Airways went to great lengths to retrieve the passengers’ belongings and return them to their rightful owners (dried out I might add). Then they gave each passenger $5000. They’re also providing three counseling sessions. What the fuck more do you want? If you’re this idiot, you want a lot more. She wants the airline to pay for the rest of the counseling sessions that she and her 4 year old daughter need (and I use the term need very loosely). She says, “I expect my family to be taken care of in the very best way possible, and I don’t feel like that’s happening when you’re balking at my claims to a therapist and you are setting limits on that.” Who in the fuck does she think she is? Seriously! I don’t know if US Airways gave $5000 to the children on the plane or just the adults, but either way this woman’s family came away with $10,000-$15,000. Maybe she should use that for her therapy. Or how about her own insurance. Apparently she has a $3000 deductible – that’s nobody’s fault but her own (or her husband’s – whichever one chose that ridiculous deductible). Maybe they’ll rethink their stupidity now. Or maybe not. But no matter what way you look at it the airline is paying for her therapy. She has a $3000 deductible which her $5000 payment from the airline covers. So what’s the problem?

This is yet another case of some moron expecting everybody else (in this case the airline) to provide for them. I don’t doubt that she suffered a terrible ordeal with the crash landing in the Hudson. But first, it wasn’t the airline’s fault, and second, she should be thanking that pilot for saving her life. If he hadn’t had the peace of mind to do what he did then she probably wouldn’t be here today.

I just became aware of this ludicrous program that gives free cell phones to low income individuals. What the fuck?!? Since when did cell phones become necessities? God knows how the hell we all managed to survive in the days before cell phones. I know it’s hard to believe, but I know people who still do not own a cell phone. They just don’t feel it’s necessary. I believe that landlines are necessary in case of emergencies; however, I also believe that if you can’t afford to pay for your phone then the only number you should have access to is 911. Maybe that’s what should happen with this cell phone give away crap too. If these idiots really think that cell phones are necessary then give them to the people who can’t be bothered to purchase them themselves, but restrict the service to 911 calls only. Now these people will have their precious cell phones to use in case of emergencies. But once again, cell phones are not necessities.

And now let’s move on to the topic of giving away free cars to welfare recipients. You have got to be kidding! Whatever happened to actually having to work for what you have. I agree that cars are very important, and I would have a difficult time managing without one. However, that being said, I could still manage to survive without a vehicle. It wouldn’t be easy, but it could be done. Plenty of people do it every day. There’s this wonderful thing called mass transit. And while it may not be as convenient as having your own vehicle, it does get you from point A to point B. So while owning your own vehicle is the optimal choice, it’s not a necessity.

Maybe we should all quit our jobs and live off the government. We can get free housing (Section 8), free food (food stamps), free medical insurance, free dental insurance, free cell phones, free vehicles, and free cash every month (welfare). Damn, sounds like a great plan to me. Too bad I have morals and integrity and decide to actually provide for myself. Maybe more people should try it. We as a country would be in a much better place.

It seems if the morons in the House have their way the rest of the country will be stuck with a health bill very similar to the horrible one here in Taxachusetts. The bill would require everybody to carry health insurance, and most employers would be required to provide insurance. Those employers that don’t provide coverage would be subject to a small fine – a dollar figure equivalent to 8% of their payroll.

According to The New York Times, “The bill would impose a new ‘tax on individuals without acceptable health care coverage.’ The tax would be based on a person’s income and could not exceed the average cost of a basic health insurance policy. People could be exempted from the tax ‘in cases of hardship.'” Yep, sounds like what we have here in this wonderful state. And let me tell you, it’s a bunch of B.S. The bureaucrats try to dig their heads out of their asses long enough to decide how much they think you can afford to pay for insurance and if you can’t afford it, oh well. They’ll just fine the shit out of you. I think what they really do to come up with their affordability numbers is just throw darts at a piece of paper with a bunch of numbers on it and voila, that’s what you can afford. Now those of us with a brain know that that won’t work. You can take two different families with the same income and one might be able to afford the insurance and the other might not. There are so many other factors that need to be taken into consideration other than just income. And the hardship exemption – whatever. That’s a joke in this state. Even if you really can’t afford the lowest priced insurance you’re forced to buy it or pay the fine. I don’t foresee this being any different at the federal level.

So now, if this bill passes, everybody is going to be forced to get insurance whether they want it or not. So those people who never get sick or go to the doctor and who don’t have insurance now (because they never use it and don’t want it) are going to be forced to pay thousands of dollars a year for nothing. My brother is one of those who’s getting fucked up the ass by this state. The boy never gets sick and never goes to the doctor, but he’s forced to pay almost $300 a month for insurance. He’s self employed and his income varies from month to month and year to year, but it doesn’t matter to the morons in power. Even though he’ll be making much less money this year and can barely afford to pay his bills he’s still stuck paying that outrageous fee. There’s nothing like pissing away $3600 a year. Hell, he might as well just take the money and go outside and burn it.  The end result is the same.

Some people need insurance, others really don’t. Yes, it would be nice if everybody was covered. But who in the hell is the government to tell you that you absolutely must buy insurance. If the government is so concerned about everybody being insured then maybe they should implement universal coverage like they have in Canada, France, England, and many other countries.  Otherwise, they can strongly suggest everybody get insurance and leave those alone who don’t want it.  If they’re so worried about people receiving medical care and not paying for it then perhaps those that don’t want the insurance can sign a waiver saying they are denying coverage and any and all medical expenses will be paid by them.

So now the morons have decided that everybody must be insured. They’ve unveiled their 852 page bill. Maybe you should read that again. They’ve unveiled their 852 page bill (how in the fuck do you waste 852 pages on this…do you put one word per page?). What’s missing from that bill is how much this crap is going to cost, and how it’s going to be paid for. I mean, seriously, why bother with the small things. House Democrats have pledged to impose new, unspecified taxes though. What a great group of folks. Seriously, they have absolutely no clue what the fuck they’re doing. It’s time for them to sit down with the countries that have universal health coverage and find out how they’re doing it. Then they can implement it here. Otherwise, we’re all gonna wind up fucked.

On June 18th the morons in the Senate passed the ‘Cash for Clunkers’ bill.  Now, one would think this would be a beneficial bill.  The premise being that people can turn in vehicles that get crappy mileage in return for a voucher towards a more fuel efficient vehicle. Of course, it will be a cold day in hell before the useless politicians pass a beneficial bill.

This program does basically nothing to promote trading up for fuel efficient vehicles. How it works is this: If you have a vehicle whose original gas mileage was 18 miles per gallon or less then you can get a $3500 voucher to put towards a new vehicle that gets at least 22 mpg (wow…22 whole mpg!). If the new vehicle gets 10 mpg or more than your old vehicle then you can get a voucher for $4500. The $4500 voucher is good, but the $3500 voucher? Are you kidding? What’s the point in giving a voucher (and wasting taxpayer money) for a vehicle that gets a whopping 4 mpg more than the old vehicle. And why does the original mpg count towards this? I guess it would make entirely too much sense to go by what the vehicle actually gets for mileage at this point in time (or a close estimate thereof). Idiots!

But wait…it gets even better. If you own a minivan, pickup truck, or SUV that gets 18 mpg or less you can get a $3500 voucher if your new vehicle gets 2 mpg more than your old vehicle. Wow! What a huge difference in fuel efficiency! And if you decide to get wild and crazy and buy a vehicle that gets 5 mpg or more than your old gas guzzler then you get can a voucher for $4500.

Of course, if you have a car that gets 20 mpg and you’d like to trade it in for a much more fuel efficient car, say one that gets 35 mpg, well, you’re just shit out of luck. The Senators don’t give a rat’s ass about you. See, this bill is designed to make our wonderful Senators look good. That’s all. They want to seem like they’re listening to the wants/needs of the general public and being environmentally responsible. Don’t let them fool you. At a very quick glance it seems like a great bill, but there’s no substance. It’s eye candy.

If these idiots actually want to do something good then they should stop taking kickbacks from the auto industry and pass new mpg standards. There’s no reason why the minimum standards should be so damn low. It’s a fucking joke!

The Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision, ruled on Thursday that prisoners have no right to DNA testing that may actually prove their innocence. Seriously? Why in the hell shouldn’t prisoners have the right to prove their innocence? For some of them, DNA testing wasn’t available when they were convicted. For others, the testing wasn’t as advanced as it is today. There is absolutely no reason why an innocent person should languish in prison, or worse, be put to death, when they can have DNA testing done that may prove their innocence.

Justice Samuel Alito does bring up a good point. Prisoners who decide to forgo DNA testing during their trial should not have the option later on to conduct this testing. Allowing this he said “would allow prisoners to play games with the criminal justice system.” He continues, “After conviction, with nothing to lose, the defendant could demand DNA testing in the hope that some happy accident — for example, degradation or contamination of the evidence — would provide the basis for seeking postconviction relief.” I have to agree with him on that.

Justice Alito also goes on to say that states would incur significant costs if prisoners were “given a never-before-recognized constitutional right to rummage through the state’s genetic-evidence locker.” I agree that the costs may be quite high, but we’re talking about a person’s freedom, or in some cases their life. What price do you put on that? There must be some way to have the testing done that won’t break the banks of the states. Perhaps the prisoners should pay for the testing. Or maybe they should pay for half of it. I’m not sure what the solution should be, but I do know that these people who are innocent deserve the opportunity to have the testing done to prove so. To deny them this is absolutely deplorable!
