Rave: What a Kid!

Posted: July 21, 2009 in Uncategorized

Zach McGuire, an 11-year old boy from Ohio, is selling his toys to help his family in these tough economic times. Zach’s father hasn’t worked since December of last year and the family’s bills are piling up. Says Zach, “You can’t live in toys, or eat toys. Even though they are fun, you don’t need them.”

Zach isn’t new to helping people out. In 2005 he sold Kool-Aid, raising $400 for victims of Hurricane Katrina. A few years later he helped the victims of the California wildfires by selling “Cocoa for California.” His dad says, “I am very proud of him. He is an 11-year-old boy not living the life of an 11-year-old.” Zach points out that everybody can do something to help others. “Even though they don’t feel like they could do anything, they could do a Kool-Aid stand, like me,” he said. “It’s what you’re doing that matters and how you’re helping people.”

What an amazing kid! And to think, he’s only 11-years old. If only there were more people like him in the world. Rock on Zach!
