Boston’s Finest?

Here we go again. Another idiot cop does something blatantly racist, and then claims not to be racist. Justin Barrett, a Boston police officer, sent a totally moronic email to the Boston Globe and some fellow National Guards members in which he referred to Henry Gates, the Harvard professor, as “banana-eating” and a “bumbling jungle monkey.” His email was written to voice his displeasure at a column that Yvonne Abraham had written in the Boston Globe about Gates’ arrest.

In his email, the racist piece of shit said that if he had “been the officer he verbally assaulted like a banana-eating jungle monkey, I would have sprayed him in the face with OC [oleoresin capsicum, or pepper spray] deserving of his belligerent noncompliance.” Nice. Real nice. For someone who claims not to be racist, he sure did like to use the term “jungle monkey.” That term was used four times, three times to refer to Gates and once when he referred to Abraham’s writing as “jungle monkey gibberish.” He also called Abraham “a hot little bird with minimal experience in a harsh field,” and also “an infidel.” He then went on to say that she “should serve me coffee and donuts on Sunday morning,” continuing later with “I like a warm cruller and hot Panamanian, black. No sugar.” What a classy guy. So not only is he racist, but he’s a sexist pig as well. Fucktard.

As soon as he learned of this racist ranting, Commissioner Edward Davis placed Barrett on administrative leave. The slim possibility exists that the idiot may lose his job. He sure as hell should, but I’m not counting on it.

Everybody is entitled their own views and beliefs, but when you take a job as a public servant you damn well better treat everybody equally. If you can’t do that then get the hell out of the public sector. And really, in today’s day and age it’s beyond pathetic that this shit happens. It’s sickening!
